Monu Chhetri
Monu Chhetri (Founder, CEO), who is Deaf, was born in Nepali descent in Bhutan and lived in a Nepal refugee camp for nineteen years. Arriving in the United States in 2011 and now a naturalized American citizen. Monu works tirelessly as an advocate, Deaf interpreter and educator, working to improve the lives of Deaf New Americans in Syracuse, New York, as well as support in other settlement communities in the United States.

Tamla Htoo
Tamla Htoo (Co-founder) is a Deaf native from Myanmar who moved to Thailand at a very young age due to civil war. She resettled in Syracuse, New York in 2005 and received American Citizenship in 2012. Tamla is currently working as an American Sign Language instructor at a local college. She has been actively involved with the DNAA leadership team since 2012.

Jay Regmi
(Administrative Assistant) Jay Regmi is a Deaf man born in Nuwakot, Nepal Grow up in Kathmandu. He worked at not- for-profit organizations in Nepal and volunteered to help Deaf children and those with disabilities in rural areas in Nepal. He also worked as a Social Worker to the Deaf community in 2015, when a massive earthquake struck Nepal. Jay moved to Syracuse in 2017 and is currently working for and with Deaf New Americans in Central NY. Jay became a US Citizen in 2022. He also loves to cycle and spend time with his family.

Shamati Suhang
Shamati Suhang (Advocate/Mentor) born in Bhutan and then spent two decades in a Nepal Refugee camp before moving to Syracuse 2011. Shamati became a US citizen in 2019 and is now developing many new skills, most recently learning to drive. She is a strong advocate for DNAs in Central New York and elsewhere. Even though she faced many difficulties and challenges in her life both in Nepal and America, she became a strong woman and great support to other DNAs. Today Shamati is an independent woman who is committed to be involved in advocacy to all Deaf New Americans.
